Mubarak Saidu 2

My Origin Story.

A very personal read.

Hey there! I’m Mubarak Saidu,

but you can call me the SonOfMan. Wondering why? Well, that’s a story for another day.

Let’s talk about what I do and how I got here.

The Story

You know, I never thought I’d end up in digital marketing. After graduating with a degree in Physics Electronics from FUT Minna, I was sure I’d land a cushy job in no time. Boy, I was so wrong!

Months went by, and there I was, hopping from city to city, CV in hand, hoping for that elusive interview call.

I even picked up a few skills along the way – installing air conditioners, solar panels, you name it. But something was missing.

My dad had this grand vision of me revolutionizing the power sector. Me? I wanted freedom – financial, time, and location. You see, I’m a bit of a wanderer.

My friends would joke, “Mubis, are you in Kaduna, Abuja, or Lagos today?” One even said if I were a woman, I’d be… well, let’s keep it PG, shall we?

So, there I was, lost and confused when I stumbled upon this Facebook group.

They were talking about e-commerce and dropshipping. Intrigued, I dove in headfirst.

It was 2016,

…I had launched my online store, “Printed Bae,” selling women’s apparel.

Man, the challenges! Payment processing, trust issues – you name it, I faced it. It was like trying to swim upstream in a river of molasses.

I am not one to give up easily, so I pivoted to affiliate marketing. I devoured courses, eBooks, and anything I could get my hands on. John Crestani’s Internet Jetset, ClickBank, Amazon Associates – I tried it all. But again, being Nigerian came with its own set of hurdles.

That’s when it hit me – why not use these skills to help local businesses? So, I shifted gears to social media marketing. Tai Lopez’s SMMA program became my bible, and I started helping companies generate leads and convert customers.

By late 2017,

…I landed a marketing gig with a big trading company in Abuja. Suddenly, I was rubbing shoulders with construction companies and real estate developers.

It was like being thrown into the deep end, but you know what? I loved it.

All those challenges? They were just stepping stones. Now, I see opportunities everywhere.

Give me five minutes with a business owner, and I can map out their entire advertising campaign in my head.

Today, I run SonOfMan Marketing, a digital marketing agency. We help building materials suppliers crush it on social media and generate leads like there’s no tomorrow.

And this blog? It’s my way of sharing what I’ve learned about digital marketing, branding, and customer relationship management in the construction industry.

So, stick around if you want to learn how to take your building materials business to the next level.

Trust me, it’s going to be one heck of a ride!
